Background
iKnowFarm is a mobile application that provides Ugandan smallholder farmers with essential agricultural information and agroinputs to improve productivity and livelihoods. The app features farming manuals, weather updates, market information, a marketplace, and a forum. To increase user awareness and adoption, iKnowFarm seeks a service provider to make a professional advert showcasing its practical impact in real-life farming scenarios. This is funded through the “Scaling up user friendliness and business model of iKnowFarm App for Sustainability” project through PALM Corps in partnership with Horizont3000 with  funding from the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).

Objective
The objective of the advert is to demonstrate the value of iKnowFarm in the life of a smallholder farmer by contrasting the experiences of a farmer using the app with one who is not. 3. Shoot high-quality footage in actual Ugandan farming environments to ensure authenticity and relatability.
  4. Include culturally relevant dialogue, language, and scenarios.
  5. Ensure the advert reflects iKnowFarm’s brand image and appeals to smallholder farmers in Uganda.
  6. Incorporate professional voiceovers, background music, and sound effects to enhance impact.
  7. Deliver a high-quality video advert (1–3 minutes) in English, with translations into Lugbara and Luganda, optimized for distribution across social media platforms, television, and digital marketing channels such as Google Ads.

Expected Deliverables

  • Concept Note: A detailed plan, including the storyline, script, and proposed locations.

  • Draft Video: A preliminary version for review and feedback.
  • Final Video: A polished advert incorporating feedback, delivered in various formats.

Duration
The assignment is expected to take one week from the date of contract signing.

  1. Proven experience producing high-quality video adverts with human characters.
  2. A creative team skilled in scriptwriting, directing, and video production.
  3. Knowledge of Ugandan farming practices and cultural contexts.
